“A life altering experience” is how people describe their time volunteering at WaaW.

If you are ready to share your talents, knowledge, experience and love with the less fortunate kids in the world, FairServices offers you a safe and professional environment, 25 eager kids and all the freedom you want to do so.
The result; kids that do way better at school, are more structured and organized and have social skills far beyond the average kid. FairServices keeps on supporting these kids to help them turn into leaders and positive role models in their own communities.

WAAW THE PROJECT

Between 2007 and 2011, FairServices did extensive research to find out why and how poverty passes from generation to generation and how to break this circle of poverty. We wanted to be sure that we didn't approach the problem from our own culture and experience but rather from the real situation of the local people themselves. We had group talks about specific subjects, we did 3 big scale projects where we visited and interviewed about 1200 families in their homes and we spent many hours of researching on the Internet. It became clear that we had to start with the children but work on each of the causes and problems at a broad level, including the parents, the home situation, the schools, etc.
Our work focuses on 3 main pillars that are inextricably connected:
1. Good personal education
2. Healthy and balanced nutrition
3. Overall health and hygiene
You can download our conclusions of our investigation here and the explanation of our main pillars over here

WAAW STRUCTURE

To offer the best possible content and services to the children and their families we work with a set program and a defined structure.
Our offices
The manager, coordinators, volunteers and interns have unlimited access to our offices at FairServices and can use all the equipment we have. We have several good computers, fast internet and WiFi, printers, copiers, laminators, scanners, camera and video camera, ....
New volunteers get a personal training to understand all procedures and structures so they can make a perfect start at WaaW. Every Monday before the project starts we have a meeting with everyone involved to review the structures, possible improvements and where volunteers can ask questions. On the last Thursday of each month there is another meeting before the project starts to prepare the coming one. We also talk about possible problems with individual kids or families.
Our staff
Eliana Astete is the operational manager of WaaW. She works for FairServices since 2006 and is one of our most appreciated and professional people. She is responsible for all daily activities, planning, contact with parents and external parties and she deal with problems and challenges we meet.

Gabriela Espinoza is the volunteer and program coordinator at WaaW. She started working in WaaW in early 2016 and is responsible for coordinating the volunteers and responsible for the planning of the program.
