ORGANIZATION

Asociacion Civil sin Fines de Lucro FairServices is a Peruvian non profit organization founded in Cusco in 2006,
managed by 2 Peruvian people and 1 Belgian person.
We have a partnership with FairPlay Zuid Amerika vzw in Belgium and with Poco-a-Poco in Holland.

SINGLE MOTHERS

Many women in Cusco end up becoming single mothers at a young age, which unfortunately impedes on their chances of continuing their studies and pursuing a professional career. They end up living insecure, unstable lives while bearing the shame of being single. Lots of them have potential and energy but no one will hire them because they didn't finish their study and they are considered to be trouble.
FairServices finds these women, trains them for free, even supporting the poorest financially while in training, and turns them into great Spanish teachers for foreigners. They work independently, about 4 hours per day on average while earning a teacher’s salary. This means they move from poverty to middle class while still having plenty of time for their children. Since they work as professionals, they regain their pride and self-esteem. In a research project we found that these women rate their lives on average 45% better after working for us for 3 years.
As a student you pay about 50% of the total cost fro Spanish classes directly to your teacher so you know what they earn.

In 2017 we start a step further back and start training young women at university and college to become Spanish teachers so they can become independent and don't have to drop out of school.

CHILDREN 5 TO 12 YEARS OLD

After a lot of research between 2008 and 2011 we figured out that, to break the circle of poverty, we needed to start with the children and focus on education, nutrition and health. In 2012 we started an after school project where children in primary school have a center where they find help with homework, where they learn about the world in a playful way, where they do sports, games and learn social skills, where they get daily healthy meals with vitamins, protein and dairy products and where they find love and encouragement from a local staff and enthusiastic volunteers and interns.
All profits made in our Spanish school and academy go to fund this project.

GRANT PROGRAM HIGH SCHOOL

Realizing that focusing on young kids isn't enough to break the circle of poverty, we started a grant program for the kids that leave our after school project and go to high school. Together with our Dutch partner; Poco-a-Poco, we offer children from poor to extremely poor families the opportunity to become professionals, positive role models and community leaders. We pay for a high school education at one of the best private high schools in Cusco and support them by offering them all office accommodations including internet access as well as moral support to prepare them for a higher education.
Our first teenager in the program is about to graduate from high school and with his grades he will be able to pursue his dream and become an engineer.

GRANT PROGRAM HIGHER EDUCATION

After high school we prepare our youngsters for entry at the government university or college.
During their study we support them with financial, practical and moral support, again with the help from our partner; Poco-a-Poco.
Our staff knows all the children in the program personally, encouraging them, helping them with practical advise and spending time with them to be positive role models in their lives.

UNIVERSITY and COLLEGE STUDENTS

In 2017 we start training students from the UNSAAC (government university in Cusco) for free to become online Spanish teachers and work in YOLA, our online Spanish academy. This means they can work flexible hours, depending on their agenda, earn a decent living standard with limited hours and having access to our study center and personal moral support.
